Writing News: A Novel Contract! And A Giveaway!
I received a wonnnnnnderful email this week with a contract for a novel with Barbour Publishing!!!! The Gray Chamber will release January 2020 as the fourth book in Barbour’s new series line called True Colors: Historical Stories of Romance and American Crime. I am SO thankful for another novel deal in this series line and look forward to sharing Edyth Foster’s tale of love and betrayal with you!

But, the summer before her financial emancipation, her father’s brother and legal guardian discovers a clause that would allow him to seize her fortune. If Edyth is declared mentally unstable, her family’s fortune reverts to her uncle Boris. Since her uncle seems to care for her, Edyth dismisses any worry of her safety, but when a series of doctors come calling to the house and she overhears a whispered conversation, she discovers they are attempting to commit her to the notorious Women’s Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell’s Island.
Before she can act, Edyth is thrown into the asylum. She nearly despairs of ever being released when she meets Nellie Bly, a supposed journalist who is working undercover to bring to light the horrors committed on Blackwell’s Island. With little hope of escaping on her own, Edyth is forced to believe a potentially mad woman is sane and seeks to convince the handsome new doctor that she was committed by mistake and enlist his aid.
